Responsibilities
- Lead environmental compliance audits for state-regulated facilities in San Diego County
- Develop and implement sustainable resource management strategies for state properties
- Analyze environmental impact reports and recommend regulatory actions
- Coordinate with local agencies on climate resiliency planning initiatives
- Mentor junior staff on environmental regulations and best practices
- Prepare detailed technical reports and policy recommendations for state leadership
- Represent the agency at public forums and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
- Professional certification (e.g., CHMM, QEP) or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Expert knowledge of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and federal regulations
- Advanced data analysis skills with environmental monitoring software
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with GIS mapping and environmental modeling tools
