Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental protection plans for Florida's waterways and wetlands
- Conduct field inspections and regulatory compliance audits for industrial facilities
- Analyze environmental data using GIS mapping and statistical modeling tools
- Prepare detailed technical reports and policy recommendations for state legislators
- Coordinate with federal EPA officials and local government agencies on cross-jurisdictional projects
- Mentor junior staff and lead interdepartmental task force initiatives
- Represent the department at public hearings and community outreach events
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental regulation or conservation
- Professional certification (e.g., CHMM, QEP) or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, statistical analysis software, and environmental sampling techniques
- Demonstrated experience with NEPA and Florida Statute 403 compliance processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and public-facing documents
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time for fieldwork and meetings
