Responsibilities
- Analyze state revenue streams and expenditure trends to inform fiscal policy decisions
- Develop comprehensive financial models for agency budget forecasting and variance reporting
- Prepare executive-level financial reports and presentations for legislative committees
- Lead cross-functional audits of state programs to ensure compliance with financial regulations
- Implement process improvements for financial data management and reporting systems
- Mentor junior analysts and coordinate interdepartmental financial initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive financial analysis experience in government or public sector
- CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, SAP, and financial reporting software
- Deep understanding of Texas state budget processes and GASB standards
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to translate complex financial data for non-technical stakeholders
