Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting for state agencies.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance checks to adhere to strict government regulations.
- Prepare complex financial statements, budgets, and reconciliation reports.
- Collaborate with department heads to optimize budget allocations and resource planning.
- Manage and review the work of junior accounting staff, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Identify areas for process improvement within the finance division.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in government or public sector accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Government Accounting Standards (GASB).
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel.
