Responsibilities
- Oversee Administrative Operations: Manage and streamline daily office functions, including document management, record keeping, and scheduling to ensure seamless government operations.
- Policy Implementation: Assist in the drafting, reviewing, and distribution of government policies and procedural guidelines relevant to the Washington area.
- Public Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for residents and businesses, providing accurate information regarding council services, grants, and regulations with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Facilitate communication between the council, local government bodies, and community groups to foster collaborative relationships.
- Report Preparation: Compile and analyze data to produce high-level reports for senior management and government officials, ensuring compliance with UK data standards.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all administrative activities adhere to strict UK government protocols, data protection laws, and internal governance policies.
- Team Support: Mentor junior staff and contribute to a positive, high-performance team culture within the Washington office.
Qualifications
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Management, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Proven experience (minimum 3-5 years) in a senior administrative or government-related role within the UK public sector.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex government policies to diverse audiences clearly.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with government-specific software or CRM systems.
- Knowledge of UK Governance: Strong understanding of UK local government structures, legislative processes, and public service standards.
