Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents using SIEM tools like Splunk or QRadar.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits to identify system weaknesses.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust security policies, procedures, and controls aligned with NIST and ISO standards.
- Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis, containment strategies, and post-incident reporting.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure secure software development and deployment practices.
- Provide security training and awareness programs to county employees to reduce human error.
- Manage vendor security posture and conduct security reviews of third-party applications.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Information Security, with a preference for public sector or enterprise environments.
- Certification required: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent (GSEC/CEH acceptable with significant experience).
- Deep knowledge of network security architecture, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with SIEM log analysis and threat hunting.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks including HIPAA, GDPR, and local government data privacy laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced government environment.
