Responsibilities
- Network & Security Administration: Oversee the administration, configuration, and maintenance of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs to ensure robust network security.
- Incident Response: Lead the investigation and remediation of cybersecurity incidents, including malware analysis, vulnerability assessments, and threat hunting.
- Project Management: Manage IT infrastructure projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet agency standards.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with third-party IT vendors and service providers to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.
- User Support & Training: Provide advanced technical support to city staff, conduct training sessions on security best practices, and create technical documentation.
- Compliance: Ensure all IT systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including cybersecurity frameworks and data privacy laws.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in information technology, with at least 3 years in a cybersecurity or network administration role within the public sector or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Active certification such as CISSP, Security+, CEH, or GCIH is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP), Windows Server, Linux, virtualization technologies (VMware), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
