Role Overview:
As a Senior IT Specialist, you will lead technical initiatives, manage complex database systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement state-of-the-art software solutions. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the integrity and security of state data.
Responsibilities
- Lead System Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems and network infrastructure for state government applications.
- Data Management: Oversee database integrity, performance tuning, and security protocols to protect sensitive citizen data.
- Project Management: Lead IT projects from conception to deployment, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure all technical operations adhere to state and federal regulatory compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, ISO 27001).
- Technical Support: Provide high-level troubleshooting and guidance to junior staff and end-users across multiple departments.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage external IT vendors and service providers to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT systems analysis, database administration, or software engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Java, Python, and cloud platforms (AWS or Azure). Experience with government IT frameworks is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of resolving critical system failures efficiently.
- License: Valid California Driver’s License (for occasional site visits).
