The Tennessee Department of Treasury is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pension Actuary to lead our pension plan administration division. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive actuarial valuations and financial projections for state pension plans to ensure solvency.
- Develop and maintain actuarial assumptions and methodologies, strictly adhering to GASB and ERISA regulations.
- Analyze complex data trends to recommend policy changes that enhance plan sustainability and member benefits.
- Collaborate closely with the Office of the State Comptroller and legislative staff to forecast budgetary impacts.
- Provide expert consultation on complex retirement benefit calculations and interpretations.
- Oversee the administration of the pension trust fund and ensure fiduciary compliance.
- Lead training sessions for internal staff and external stakeholders on pension updates and policy changes.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Finance is strongly preferred.
- Eligibility for ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public sector pension administration or related actuarial consulting.
- Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools, including SQL, Python, or advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
- Deep understanding of government budgeting processes, GASB standards, and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
