Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily processing of pension calculations and retirement applications.
- Ensure strict compliance with New York State Retirement System (NYSTRS) regulations and ERISA standards.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension records to identify discrepancies and prevent fraud.
- Provide expert guidance to public employees regarding eligibility and vesting schedules.
- Collaborate with the legal team to interpret complex legislative changes affecting pension benefits.
- Manage high-volume correspondence regarding inquiries and status updates.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior management regarding fund performance and actuarial valuations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or government benefits management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Strong knowledge of New York State Public Pension Laws and federal retirement regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel functions and data analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Pension Funds Specialist (CPFS) designation is a plus.
