In this role, you will manage the end-to-end processing of pension and retirement benefit requests, ensuring strict adherence to state regulations and internal protocols. You will serve as a subject matter expert for retirees and active employees, providing clarity on complex pension calculations and eligibility requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of pension applications, including service credit verification and benefit calculations.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses of member accounts to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity within the pension administration system.
- Provide expert customer service and technical support to retirees, beneficiaries, and active employees regarding retirement eligibility and benefit disbursements.
- Ensure strict compliance with ERISA regulations, Kentucky Revised Statutes, and internal audit requirements.
- Collaborate with the Finance and HR departments to reconcile pension ledgers and prepare monthly reports.
- Maintain and update knowledge of legislative changes affecting public sector retirement plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or a related government sector role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, with the ability to manipulate large datasets.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) or state retirement laws is highly desirable.
