Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of pension claims, including processing, verification, and disbursement of benefits.
- Analyze retirement data to ensure 100% accuracy in complex benefit calculations.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to retirees, beneficiaries, and HR staff regarding pension inquiries.
- Collaborate with the State Treasurer’s office and external actuaries to review plan performance and funding status.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in state compliance databases.
- Prepare detailed reports for state auditors and legislative committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration or public sector human resources.
- Strong working knowledge of state retirement systems (e.g., SERS, TRS, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) and SQL preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
