Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans in accordance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas state laws
- Conduct financial modeling and actuarial valuations to ensure plan solvency
- Manage participant enrollment, eligibility determinations, and retirement distributions
- Develop and maintain compliance documentation for annual Form 5500 filings
- Collaborate with investment advisors to monitor fund performance and asset allocation
- Prepare comprehensive reports for city council and pension board meetings
- Lead participant education workshops on retirement planning and benefit options
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration experience with public sector plans
- SPBC (Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries) certification preferred
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS Code 401(a), and Texas pension statutes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Northstar)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder presentations and training
