Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive actuarial valuations and prepare detailed reports for state oversight committees and the New York State Comptroller.
- Analyze actuarial assumptions and economic trends to project pension liabilities and ensure long-term plan solvency.
- Review and process complex retirement applications, calculating accurate benefits in accordance with NY State Public Retirement Law.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal (ERISA) and state regulations governing public pension plans.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve pension plan documentation, communication strategies, and member services.
- Utilize advanced actuarial software and database systems to maintain high data integrity across all records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pension administration, actuarial consulting, or financial analysis within the public or private sector.
- Candidate must be a member of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), or actively pursuing such credentials.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and actuarial valuation software (e.g., Milliman, Moody’s, or proprietary state systems).
- Deep knowledge of ERISA guidelines and New York State Government pension regulations.
