Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive pension plan valuations using actuarial modeling software (e.g., Milliman, AXIS)
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, GASB, and California pension regulations
- Develop retirement policy recommendations for state legislators and agency partners
- Conduct risk assessments for investment portfolios exceeding $500 billion in assets
- Prepare legislative reports and testimony for pension reform initiatives
- Manage vendor relationships for actuarial and financial services
- Mentor junior analysts on pension administration best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, or Public Administration (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years pension plan administration experience with public sector entities
- ASP or ASA designation strongly preferred
- Expertise in pension accounting standards (GASB 67/68)
- Proficient in SQL and financial modeling tools
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to obtain security clearance for sensitive financial data
- Experience with CalPERS or similar large pension systems
