Responsibilities
- Manage and administer defined benefit pension plans for San Francisco employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Develop actuarial valuations and funding strategies for multi-billion dollar portfolios
- Lead retirement plan audits and coordinate with external consultants
- Design and implement employee communication materials for retirement benefits
- Analyze legislative changes impacting public pension systems
- Collaborate with finance teams on investment strategy alignment
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or Public Administration
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS Code 414, and California pension statutes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Parnassus)
- CPA, CFA, or QP designation preferred
- Experience with municipal government pension systems
- Exceptional analytical and regulatory compliance expertise
