Responsibilities
- Analyze complex policy issues and draft comprehensive reports for city leadership and stakeholders
- Conduct quantitative/qualitative research using GIS, statistical modeling, and public data sources
- Develop policy recommendations addressing housing affordability, climate resilience, and economic equity
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions with community groups, nonprofits, and private sector partners
- Monitor federal/state legislation and regulatory changes affecting municipal operations
- Present findings to City Council committees and executive leadership teams
- Manage policy implementation timelines and coordinate interdepartmental task forces
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in government policy analysis or public sector consulting
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (R, Stata)
- Demonstrated success in developing equity-focused policy frameworks
- Strong understanding of North Carolina municipal governance structures
- Excellent written/verbal communication with ability to simplify technical concepts
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (for field site visits)
- Experience with federal grant application processes (e.g., HUD, EPA programs)
