Responsibilities
- Analyze complex policy issues and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership
- Lead cross-functional research projects evaluating program effectiveness and fiscal impact
- Develop comprehensive policy briefs and implementation strategies for city council initiatives
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions with community organizations and industry partners
- Monitor federal and state legislative changes affecting municipal operations
- Present findings to the Mayor's Office, City Council, and public audiences
- Mentor junior analysts and coordinate interdepartmental task forces
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of policy analysis experience in government or public sector
- Advanced proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, or SAS) and data visualization tools
- Demonstrated success in translating complex data into actionable policy recommendations
- Deep understanding of Chicago's government structure and legislative processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to diverse audiences
- Valid Illinois driver's license (required for occasional field visits)
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status
