Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate local, state, and federal policies affecting urban development and public services
- Develop comprehensive policy briefs and recommendations for City Council and department leadership
- Analyze quantitative/qualitative data to identify emerging trends and policy gaps
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement sessions with community groups, businesses, and government agencies
- Monitor legislative changes and assess potential impacts on Charlotte's strategic goals
- Lead interdepartmental projects to implement new initiatives (e.g., affordable housing, sustainability)
- Present findings to elected officials and senior administrators through compelling reports
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of policy analysis experience in municipal or state government
- Expertise in quantitative/qualitative research methodologies and data visualization tools
- Proven ability to draft clear, persuasive policy documents and legislative recommendations
- Strong understanding of North Carolina's regulatory framework and local governance structures
- Exceptional communication skills with demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement
- Proficiency in GIS software, SPSS, or similar analytical platforms
- Valid North Carolina driver's license required
