Responsibilities
- Research and analyze complex policy issues related to technology governance and smart city initiatives
- Develop comprehensive policy briefs and recommendations for city council and executive leadership
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to implement strategic city-wide projects
- Conduct stakeholder engagement sessions with community members and industry partners
- Monitor legislative developments and assess impacts on local government operations
- Prepare and present policy recommendations at public hearings and committee meetings
- Manage policy implementation timelines and evaluate program effectiveness
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in municipal government or public policy analysis
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, R, or Python) and policy modeling software
- Proven track record of developing successful technology-related municipal policies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex information clearly
- Deep understanding of California state and federal regulatory frameworks
- Experience managing public consultation processes and community outreach programs
- Valid California driver's license (may require travel to city facilities)
