Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze legislative proposals impacting municipal governance and urban planning
- Liaise with federal/state agencies on infrastructure funding and regulatory compliance
- Lead cross-departmental task forces for emergency response and public health initiatives
- Prepare detailed policy briefings for City Council and executive leadership
- Manage stakeholder engagement with business associations, nonprofits, and community groups
- Monitor legislative trends and recommend proactive policy adaptations
- Oversee grant applications for federal programs totaling $50M+ annually
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years experience in government relations or public policy analysis
- Deep knowledge of Texas state government operations and federal grant systems
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, R, or Python)
- Proven track record of successfully advocating municipal priorities
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- US citizenship required for federal clearance
- Professional certification (CPAP, CPP) strongly preferred
