Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive food safety, sanitation, and environmental health inspections in commercial establishments
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks with rapid response protocols
- Develop and implement public health education programs for diverse community groups
- Enforce county health codes and regulatory compliance through detailed documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and community organizations on health initiatives
- Utilize GIS mapping and data analytics to identify high-risk areas for targeted interventions
- Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare detailed regulatory reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in health inspection or regulatory compliance
- Certified Public Health Inspector (CPHI) or equivalent certification required
- Strong knowledge of Michigan Public Health Code and FDA Food Code
- Exceptional communication skills for community engagement and conflict resolution
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Tableau) and inspection software
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergency responses
