Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for city departments
- Serve as primary media liaison for major policy announcements and crisis communications
- Create compelling content across digital platforms, press releases, and public forums
- Manage social media channels with 500K+ combined followers
- Coordinate with elected officials and department heads on messaging alignment
- Lead crisis response protocols during public emergencies
- Mentor junior communications staff and interns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of government/public sector communications experience
- Proven crisis management and media relations expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and CMS platforms
- Valid California Driver's License
- Experience managing multi-channel campaigns (digital, print, broadcast)
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish highly preferred
- Crisis Communication Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
