Responsibilities
- Develop and implement city-wide communication strategies for major initiatives and crisis management
- Lead media relations as primary spokesperson for the Mayor's office
- Oversee digital content creation across 15+ social media platforms
- Manage cross-departmental messaging consistency and brand integrity
- Produce high-impact press releases, speeches, and public briefings
- Analyze public sentiment data to refine communication approaches
- Supervise team of 3 communications specialists
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations
- 7+ years progressive experience in government/public sector communications
- Proven crisis communication expertise with media portfolio
- Advanced knowledge of digital analytics tools (Sprinklr, Brandwatch)
- Valid California driver's license
- Experience managing municipal budgets over $500K
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred
