Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for city departments
- Manage media relations and serve as primary spokesperson for public initiatives
- Create compelling content across digital platforms, press releases, and public reports
- Coordinate crisis communications and public information during emergencies
- Lead social media engagement campaigns with 50K+ audience reach
- Oversee public records requests and compliance with transparency laws
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholder groups
- Maintain Louisville's digital presence through website and CMS management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- 5+ years of professional communications experience, preferably in government
- Proven crisis communications and media relations expertise
- Advanced proficiency in CMS platforms (WordPress preferred) and analytics tools
- Strong writing and editing skills with portfolio samples
- Knowledge of Kentucky Sunshine Laws and FOIA procedures
- Experience managing social media channels for public entities
- Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
