Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Review engineering plans and specifications for compliance with city codes and standards
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other city departments to resolve project issues
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations during construction phases
- Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely completion
- Test construction materials and verify quality control procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public works inspection or construction management
- Valid California Inspector Certification (QACI or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of California Public Contract Code and Title 24 regulations
- Proficiency in inspection software (e.g., FieldManager, Viewpoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
