Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Review engineering plans and specifications for compliance with codes and standards
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and government agencies to resolve issues
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations during construction phases
- Manage project timelines and provide progress updates to department leadership
- Train junior inspectors on best practices and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in public works construction inspection
- Valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- ICC Certification in Building Inspection or equivalent
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of Virginia Construction Codes and OSHA standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
