Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Network Security: Implement and enforce robust network security measures, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems to protect sensitive government data.
- System Administration: Manage Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and group policies to ensure secure access control.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and proactively resolve issues to minimize downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and security analysts, to support new initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Certifications: Active certifications such as CCNA, Security+, or CCNP are highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering within a corporate or government environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with virtualization technologies (VMware), cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Compliance: Deep understanding of data privacy laws and government compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).
