Responsibilities
- Supervise and maintain order within the correctional facility, ensuring the safety of staff, inmates, and visitors.
- Enforce facility rules, regulations, and policies, including the use of force when necessary.
- Conduct searches of inmates, living areas, and property to prevent the introduction of contraband.
- Document observations and incidents accurately and promptly in official reports.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and self-defense.
- Assist in the rehabilitation process by facilitating educational and vocational programs.
- Monitor inmate activities during the night shift to prevent disturbances and ensure security.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Driverβs License is preferred.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a criminal history check.
- Ability to pass a medical and psychological evaluation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds.
