We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pension Plan Administrator to join our prestigious State Government team in Richmond, Virginia. You will serve as a subject matter expert on the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), ensuring compliance with federal regulations and state policies while delivering exceptional service to retirees and active staff.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end processing of pension claims, retirement applications, and death benefit distributions.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension records and calculations to ensure 100% accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to retirees, beneficiaries, and state employees regarding retirement eligibility, options, and payout structures.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance departments to interpret and implement new pension laws and legislative updates.
- Analyze pension data trends to provide insights on fund performance and member demographics to senior leadership.
- Resolve complex discrepancies in benefit calculations and manage the appeals process for denied claims.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or government HR.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA regulations and state-specific retirement systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel functions and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to a non-technical audience.
