Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray machines, metal detectors, and other TSA-approved screening equipment to detect prohibited items
- Conduct thorough physical searches of passengers and baggage using pat-down techniques and explosive trace detection
- Verify travel documents and boarding passes against passenger manifests
- Maintain strict security protocols while providing courteous customer service to travelers
- Document security incidents and suspicious activities according to TSA procedures
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel to address security concerns
- Participate in continuous training on security procedures and emerging threats
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (required)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
- Valid U.S. driver's license (if required for airport access)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle difficult situations professionally
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn screening technologies
