Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban planning initiatives aligned with Minneapolis' strategic vision
- Analyze zoning regulations, land use patterns, and environmental impacts for development projects
- Lead community engagement sessions to gather input on neighborhood revitalization efforts
- Prepare detailed reports, zoning recommendations, and long-range planning documents
- Collaborate with engineering, transportation, and parks departments on integrated development projects
- Review development applications for compliance with municipal codes and design standards
- Stay current with federal/state regulations affecting urban planning and land use policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Geography, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of urban planning experience with municipal or public sector focus
- Expertise in zoning laws, land use regulations, and urban design principles
- Proficiency in GIS software and urban planning analysis tools
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for presenting complex plans to diverse audiences
- Ability to facilitate community meetings and mediate stakeholder negotiations
- Valid Minnesota driver's license for site visits
