Responsibilities
- Research and analyze complex urban policy issues, including affordable housing, climate action, and transportation infrastructure
- Develop data-driven policy recommendations aligned with Portland's strategic goals
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to implement evidence-based solutions
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for city council and stakeholders
- Engage with community groups and residents to gather diverse perspectives
- Monitor policy implementation effectiveness and recommend adjustments
- Stay current on federal/state regulations affecting local governance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Urban Planning, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of policy analysis experience in government or public sector
- Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable policy recommendations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with presentation experience
- Familiarity with Portland's governmental structure and community landscape
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R) and GIS tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
