Responsibilities
- System Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), ensuring 99.9% uptime for critical government systems.
- Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and deployment of new IT infrastructure and software solutions.
- Data Integrity: Manage and secure sensitive government databases, ensuring compliance with state privacy laws and federal standards.
- Cybersecurity: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect against cyber threats and data breaches.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers.
- Technical Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and guidance to junior staff and government agency stakeholders.
- Compliance Auditing: Conduct regular audits of IT systems to ensure adherence to State of Michigan IT policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems administration or software development within a government or large enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Active CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification is a strong plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical audiences.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional overtime during system upgrades or emergencies.
- Driver's License: Valid Michigan Driver's License required for site access.
