Responsibilities
- Conduct epidemiological investigations for disease outbreaks and public health emergencies
- Interview patients, witnesses, and healthcare providers to establish transmission patterns
- Collect and analyze environmental samples for pathogen identification
- Implement containment protocols and coordinate with healthcare facilities
- Prepare detailed investigation reports and recommend intervention strategies
- Train local health departments on outbreak response procedures
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and state public health regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 2+ years of field investigation or public health surveillance experience
- Certified in Incident Command System (ICS-100/200)
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and data analysis software
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (bilingual required)
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends during outbreaks
- Pass background check and fingerprinting per state requirements
