Your Responsibilities
As a City Carrier Associate, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of mail and packages to customers along a prescribed route. You will interact directly with the public, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Delivery Operations: Sort and deliver mail and packages to residential and business customers along an assigned route in all weather conditions.
- Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service, answer inquiries, and handle packages with care and professionalism.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of the mail vehicle.
- Mail Sorting: Efficiently sort mail and packages at the Post Office before departure to optimize delivery routes.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, special services, and daily activities.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all USPS safety regulations and traffic laws while driving and walking.
Qualifications
- Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status with the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Driving Record: A valid driver's license is required. A clean driving record is strongly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods while walking or driving.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with the public.
- Residency: Must reside within a reasonable distance of the Fresno distribution center (or be willing to relocate).
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the postal schedule.
