Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems with 99.9% data accuracy
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations implementation across all health information workflows
- Lead data quality audits and implement corrective actions for health information systems
- Coordinate health information exchange between VA facilities and external healthcare providers
- Develop training programs for staff on health information management best practices
- Oversee release of information requests while maintaining strict confidentiality protocols
- Analyze health data trends to support clinical decision-making and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management systems
- Expertise in HIPAA, HITECH Act, and VA-specific privacy regulations
- Proficiency in Epic EHR systems and health information standards (HL7, FHIR)
- Demonstrated project management skills for system implementations
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
