Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with VA and HIPAA standards
- Oversee coding and classification of diagnoses/procedures using ICD-10 and CPT systems
- Conduct quality audits of medical documentation and health information practices
- Implement and optimize health information workflows for operational efficiency
- Train staff on health information management policies and procedures
- Ensure data integrity during system migrations and upgrades
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve documentation discrepancies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in acute care health information management
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, VA directives, and healthcare data standards
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred) and data analytics tools
- Demonstrated experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA background clearance
- Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills
