Responsibilities
- Conduct weekend inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public pools for compliance with health and safety regulations
- Investigate public health complaints and implement corrective action plans
- Collect environmental samples and maintain detailed inspection documentation
- Educate business owners on sanitation best practices and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with weekend emergency response teams during public health incidents
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports using digital field systems
- Participate in weekend public health outreach events and community education
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Valid California Environmental Health Specialist Registration (REHS) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of field inspection experience in public health or environmental safety
- Strong working knowledge of California Title 22 health codes
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills for public education and conflict resolution
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in mobile inspection technology and data reporting systems
