Responsibilities

  • Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, prioritizing life-threatening situations.
  • Dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical resources to incident scenes efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain radio communications with field units to ensure situational awareness.
  • Enter incident data into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems with 100% accuracy.
  • Provide emergency instructions and reassurance to callers until responders arrive on scene.
  • Perform shift duties including shift briefings, training, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record required.
  • Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, and medical exam.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to type at least 35 WPM.
