Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, prioritizing life-threatening situations.
- Dispatch appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical resources to incident scenes efficiently.
- Monitor and maintain radio communications with field units to ensure situational awareness.
- Enter incident data into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems with 100% accuracy.
- Provide emergency instructions and reassurance to callers until responders arrive on scene.
- Perform shift duties including shift briefings, training, and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record required.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, and medical exam.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions under high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to type at least 35 WPM.
