Responsibilities
- Sort and deliver mail and packages along an assigned route efficiently and accurately.
- Obtain customer signatures for registered and certified mail items.
- Handle parcels with care and place them in a safe location at the customer's door.
- Collect and process incoming mail and packages.
- Perform occasional lifting and carrying of heavy mail bags (up to 70 lbs).
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to USPS uniform standards.
- Use handheld delivery devices (PDAs) to scan and track packages.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien with the appropriate work authorization.
- Valid driver’s license (for City Carrier positions involving vehicle operation).
- Ability to pass a background check and a drug screen.
- Must be able to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs repeatedly.
- Good physical stamina to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
