We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented City Clerk to join the District of Columbia Government. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the custodian of records for municipal proceedings and provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of city governance. Responsibilities
- Prepare, record, and maintain accurate minutes for all official city council and committee meetings.
- Manage the indexing, archiving, and secure retrieval of public records, ordinances, and resolutions.
- Receive, screen, and distribute incoming correspondence, subpoenas, and official legal documents.
- Process and file vital records and maintain the city's docket system in compliance with DC code.
- Assist the public with information requests regarding city operations, historical archives, and meeting schedules.
- Maintain a rigorous filing system to ensure data security and easy accessibility.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned to support the department's administrative needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or higher in Public Administration or Political Science is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably within a government or legal setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document management software.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to transcribe and verify complex verbal information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive government information.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the District of Columbia as required.
