Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and minutes with meticulous accuracy
- Coordinate and support City Council meetings, including agenda preparation, documentation, and compliance with open-meeting laws
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and public records requests while ensuring legal compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison between citizens, government officials, and departments for public inquiries
- Implement record retention policies and digital archiving systems for long-term accessibility
- Facilitate public notice publications and coordinate with legal counsel for regulatory adherence
- Train staff on records management protocols and municipal software systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in municipal government, records management, or public sector administration
- Proficiency with document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, M-Files) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Thorough knowledge of North Carolina open records laws and municipal governance regulations
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage complex schedules and sensitive information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for public-facing interactions
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation preferred
