As the guardian of Omaha's official records and electoral processes, you'll be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our democratic institutions while supporting the efficient operation of city government.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes with strict adherence to retention policies
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and ballot certification processes
- Provide public records requests responses within legal timeframes and compliance requirements
- Administer oaths of office and notarial services for city officials and documents
- Coordinate with city council and mayoral offices for legislative documentation and public hearings
- Develop and implement records management systems ensuring data security and accessibility
- Serve as primary liaison between public and government regarding procedural inquiries
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years municipal government or public records management experience
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation strongly preferred
- Proficiency with records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, OnBase) and document imaging systems
- Deep knowledge of Nebraska open records laws and election procedures
- Exceptional written communication skills for drafting official documents and public notices
- Proven ability to manage high-volume records with strict confidentiality requirements
