The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented City Clerk to join our Public Administration team. Responsibilities
- Records Management: Oversee the creation, retention, and archiving of official city records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, and resolutions, ensuring full compliance with Colorado state statutes.
- Meeting Administration: Prepare and distribute agendas, take accurate minutes during City Council and Board meetings, and ensure official actions are properly recorded and filed.
- Public Information: Serve as the primary liaison for the public regarding open records requests, providing timely and transparent responses in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act.
- Office Operations: Manage the daily workflow of the City Clerk’s office, supervise support staff, and coordinate with various municipal departments to ensure seamless administrative processes.
- Voter Services & Elections: Assist in the coordination of local elections, ensuring all necessary materials and procedures are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Legal Compliance: Maintain knowledge of municipal codes and legal requirements, ensuring all office practices align with city policies and state regulations.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in administrative support, government operations, or a related clerical field.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with records management software or government databases.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally with elected officials, staff, and the general public.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality in sensitive documents and records.
- Organizational Skills: Strong multitasking capabilities with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
