Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes
- Prepare, distribute, and archive agendas/minutes for City Council and Board of Commissioners meetings
- Administer oaths, affirmations, and public record requests in compliance with NC General Statutes
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and redistricting processes
- Coordinate records retention policies and document destruction procedures
- Serve as liaison between public, legal counsel, and elected officials on record matters
- Implement digital record management systems while ensuring physical document security
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years municipal government or records management experience
- Thorough knowledge of North Carolina public records laws (G.S. 132) and election procedures
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation or willingness to obtain within 18 months
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to manage high-volume documentation
- Strong written communication skills for drafting resolutions and public notices
