Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the official records of the City, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Coordinate the preparation, distribution, and archiving of council agendas and meeting packets.
- Act as the primary liaison between the City Council, City Manager, and department heads.
- Respond to public inquiries, requests for information, and correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with state statutes and local ordinances regarding public records and meetings.
- Supervise and support administrative staff within the Clerk’s office, including training and performance evaluations.
- Oversee the operation of the Municipal Clerk’s Office, including budgeting, purchasing, and workflow optimization.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government or administrative support.
- Proven experience in record-keeping, meeting management, and office management.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with database management software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
