The District of Columbia Government is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented City Clerk / Records Manager to oversee our official municipal documentation and public records. As a key member of the municipal team, you will ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and preservation of the city's history and legal proceedings. Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official municipal records, including council minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and bylaws.
- Oversee the preparation and distribution of meeting agendas, packets, and official publications.
- Facilitate public access to records by processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and maintaining the public information window.
- Coordinate and oversee municipal elections, including voter registration drives and election logistics.
- Ensure strict compliance with state archival laws and District records management policies.
- Act as the primary liaison between the city council and the public, managing correspondence and inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, History, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in records management, government administration, or a related clerical role.
- Proficiency in government records management software (e.g., Accela, iConcordia, or similar) is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of DC municipal code and local government procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
