Responsibilities
- Receive, review, and file a high volume of incoming mail, documents, and digital records in an organized and efficient manner.
- Assist the public by answering inquiries regarding city ordinances, procedures, and available services in a professional and courteous manner.
- Perform data entry tasks with a high degree of accuracy, maintaining and updating the city's database systems.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and meeting packets for various city departments.
- Support the operations of the clerk's office by scheduling appointments, greeting visitors, and managing the reception area.
- Assist in the preparation of official documents, contracts, and permits as required by local laws and regulations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive city and citizen information at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience in an office, clerical, or customer service role is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail is essential for maintaining accurate records and data entry.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
