Responsibilities
- Supervise Inmate Activities: Monitor and supervise inmate movement, work details, and recreational activities to ensure safety and order.
- Enforce Rules and Regulations: Strictly enforce TDCJ rules and regulations, maintaining control over the inmate population at all times.
- Conduct Security Checks: Perform regular cell, body, and area searches to prevent contraband entry and identify security threats.
- Emergency Response: React swiftly and effectively to emergencies, including riots, fires, or medical crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques when possible.
- Document Incidents: Accurately complete incident reports, logs, and other documentation required by departmental policy.
- Inmate Communication: Oversee and monitor phone calls, visits, and correspondence to maintain security standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen.
- Age: At least 21 years of age.
- Background: No felony convictions. Must pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen.
- Physical: Ability to pass the TDCJ physical fitness test and meet specific physical requirements for the position.
- License: Valid driverβs license is required.
